Bill and I were guests on the Lift Your Spirits Show with Dena Marie on the Alternative Talk Radio Station in Seattle last Friday. (You can listen to the archive here). We had a lovely chat before and after the show with the guest host Ann Dorn who produces the Seattle Natural Awakenings magazine, and after the show she told me about how the article about the threat of a major earthquake in the Pacific North West in New Yorker magazine was creating a tsunami of fear in the local people. She was planning an article on how to deal with fear and asked me to contribute a short piece on the subject.
If you still pay attention to the mainstream media, you’ll know that every day we’re bombarded with what is commonly referred to as ‘fear porn’ – stories written in such a way that they stimulate fear in the reader. So this latest article on the threat of a natural disaster is just one example of fear-generating material. The last big one on a similar subject was about the imminent eruption of the giant Yellowstone volcano.
I’m not saying you should bury your head in the sand, just suggesting that you are selective in what you expose yourself to and don’t accept everything you see and hear as gospel.
The Science of Manifestation
As you’re reading this article I assume that you believe in manifestation, but for the skeptics among us, there is a wealth of evidence in the scientific community that consciousness affects energy, and as everything in the universe is energy, everything we think and feel affects the world we live in.
The late Dr Masaru Emoto demonstrated the effect of consciousness on water.
The Global Coherence Initiative (part of the Heartmath Institute) is collecting data on the effect of human consciousness on the Earth’s magnetic field (https://www.heartmath.org/research/global-coherence/).
Dr John Hagelin, the renowned quantum physicist has researched the effects of consciousness and particularly meditation on world peace, crime levels and violence.
The Impact of a Tsunami of Fear
So imagine the power of a mass fear response to the published article in New Yorker magazine about “The Really Big One – An earthquake will destroy a sizable portion of the coastal Northwest. The question is when.”
Fear is a strong emotion focused on some imagined future outcome. The quantum field responds to this energy and creates the very thing that is feared – it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
According to the article, scientific data points to the likelihood of a massive earthquake and Tsunami at some future time as a fait accompli, but what if the human collective consciousness gave focused attention to the opposite?
If the Global Coherence Initiative’s hypothesis is true, that “there is a feedback loop between human beings and the earth’s energetic/magnetic systems”, then the power of mass focused attention on the healing of Mother Earth could create a very different outcome.
Dealing With Fear
Personally, when I’m faced with a challenging situation, whether personal, local or global, I remind myself that how I respond with my thoughts and feelings impacts the outcome. Giving in to fear takes you out of the present moment and into this imagined future, and the more your mind dwells on it, the worse the picture gets. So, move your thoughts back into the present moment and in the present moment everything is OK. I’m still here aren’t I? Living and breathing.
I focus on slowing down my breathing and consciously calm my energy which centers me and gives me (literally) breathing space to consider the situation from a place of detachment – in effect I’ve moved out of the fearful ego into the empowered, immortal higher self. In that state I feel invulnerable knowing that in a loving universe everything happens for my ultimate benefit.
Then I shift my attention from problem to solution and as my thought shifts, so does my emotion. I envision the solution that I choose to create and I fuel it with my unshakable belief in that outcome. Then I open to the universe to receive inspired ideas on what action to take to achieve it.
Remember and act on the statement “Don’t believe everything you read in the papers”… or on TV, and question everything you read or watch on the internet. There is a lot of misinformation out there with the prime objective of generating fear. Don’t pollute your consciousness with negative energy.
Avoid people who thrive on drama – they’ve fallen prey to the ego and pain body and want to create a major fear-fest.
Instead, encourage others to stay calm, question everything and focus on manifesting a positive outcome for everyone.
Practice makes perfect, and eventually you achieve a state of near-constant love, joy, peace and abundance, living from your higher self on a daily basis. No fear? No kidding!
